Michelin Star Chef Ana Ros and The Ardmore Craft Exquisite Dining Experience in Mumbai

22.04.2024 - 12:01:19

- Chef and Owner of the Three-Michelin Starred Restaurant Hiša Franko in Slovenia to bring an extraordinary dining experience to Mumbai featuring the exceptional qualities of The Ardmore. In this unique partnership, Ana Roš elevated the culinary scene in Mumbai, celebrating the art of gastronomy and craftsmanship.

Chef Ana Roš has been recognized as the World's Best Female Chef in 2017 by The World’s 50 Best Restaurants. Her culinary prowess, embellished with a Michelin Green Star and the Best Chef Pristine Award, is on display in India for the first time.

The recently concluded Mumbai event witnessed the exquisite pairing of Ana Roš’s culinary creations with the premium offering of The Ardmore. Celebrating the Ardmore distillery’s unique location on the fringes of the Highlands, The Ardmore offers a lightly peated liquid that is sweet and uplifting. It encapsulates the essence of the natural environment where the whisky is crafted with pristine local ingredients – water, barley and peat. On the nose, this light honey-colored whisky offers a heather honey with hints of cinnamon and toffee bonbon along with very subtle hints of peatsmoke. On the palate, it gives a creamy vanilla spice that gives way to more overt smoky charcoal notes, especially with the addition of water. Smoke doesn’t dominate and is balanced by the sweet honey and spice flavours. Today, it is the only Highland distillery to consistently peat its barley which gives the whisky a rich and smoky flavour and unlike many other single malts, it is chill-filtered which means that it retains its original aroma.

About The Ardmore

The Ardmore distillery sits at the highest point of the Northern railway line in Scottish Highlands, 600 feet above sea level. Established in 1898, close to the small village of Kennethmont, the proximity to the railway line allowed founder Adam Teacher to transport materials from Glasgow to this remote corner of Aberdeenshire, helping the distillery flourish. Almost unchanged since 1898, the water is still drawn from the naturally rising springs that sit on the 1,500 foot tall Knockandy Hill.

The Ardmore Single malt is unusual – and distinct – in that it combines both peated and unpeated malts. Peat smokiness is part of the flavor profile not the dominant feature. Importantly, ‘peat’ also works beneath the flavor characters (Sweet, Smoke and Spice) to build texture and body into the single malt. The Ardmore uses one source of highland peat and have worked with the same supplier since 1899. Long fermentation brings a more complex, more full bodied flavor into the distilled spirit. The traditional Dunnage warehouse used for maturation of The Ardmore and lower temperatures given distillery's location reduces the interaction of the cask to prevent the cask ‘fighting’ with the distillery character – instead it just enhances it – so you get more of that taste of the highlands.
