Sudan: Statement by the Spokesperson calling for a ceasefire

BRUSSELS, 28 Febuary 2025 / PRN Africa / -- The EU reiterates its call upon the belligerent parties in Sudan to cease fire, especially in light of the Holy Month of Ramadan to allow the people of Sudan to be with their families and loved ones.

The war started during Ramadan two years ago and has not allowed the people to have peace.

The people of Sudan need a sign of hope. This ceasefire needs to pave the way for a lasting arrangement which enables a comprehensive political process.

Only then will the people of Sudan be able to return to their lives and the country on the path of reconciliation and recovery.

The EU remains committed to deliver assistance to the people of Sudan which can only be effective if safe, timely, and unhindered access for humanitarian operations is guaranteed by all stakeholders at all times and irrespective of a ceasefire.
