Hensoldt's 7.3% Jump Puts November 5 in the Spotlight as Jefferies Turns Buyer
Published on 10/16/2026 at 14:21 | Editorial boerse-global.deEuropean defense stocks found their footing again this week, and Hensoldt moved with them — only faster. The sensor specialist climbed 7.3% on Friday to EUR 88.96, a gain that outpaced the broader sector recovery and put the stock back above a technical line it had been straddling for days.
The rally didn't start Friday. A day earlier, the shares had already added 3.3% to close at EUR 82.94, lifted by a Morgan Stanley assessment that painted a more constructive picture of European defense demand. The U.S. bank expects a wave of orders from the current German defense budget to be awarded before year-end, and the Börsen-Zeitung reported that Hensoldt was among the defense names drawing the most interest on the trading floor. Friday's follow-through extended that momentum, with the stock now trading above its 200-day moving average of EUR 80.08.
Two Analyst Voices, One Direction
Behind the price action, the analyst community has been shifting its stance. Jefferies upgraded Hensoldt from "Hold" to "Buy" on October 5, keeping its price target at EUR 98. The broker pointed to a solid growth outlook, potential for new orders, and a capital markets day scheduled for November that should provide greater visibility into the company's pipeline.
Deutsche Bank Research followed on Friday, reaffirming its buy rating with a target of EUR 105. Analyst Christophe Menard focused on the operational picture ahead of the upcoming quarterly report, suggesting that higher production output may have supported margins in the sensor business during the third quarter. Menard went further, raising the possibility that Hensoldt could adjust its full-year guidance — a prospect that would give the rally additional fuel.
Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Hensoldt?
The Ukraine Agreement: Real Signal, Open Questions
Company-specific news has added to the sector tailwind. Roughly two weeks ago, Hensoldt signed a memorandum of understanding with Ukraine's defense ministry aimed at strengthening airspace surveillance. The arrangement covers additional radar deliveries and includes a review of joint deployments of the TRML-4D long-range radar.
The agreement underscores the sustained demand for advanced reconnaissance technology, but it also raises a timing question that investors are increasingly unwilling to ignore. A memorandum of understanding is not a firm order. The market wants to see preparatory declarations converted into binding contracts with predictable margins — and until that happens, the revenue impact remains prospective rather than tangible.
Hensoldt also presented at the AUSA 2026 industry trade fair, part of its effort to strengthen its position in international competition.
November 5: The Number That Matters
The next hard data point arrives on November 5, 2026, when Hensoldt publishes results for the first nine months of the year. That interim report should reveal whether the optimistic sector expectations have begun to show up in the order book and in profitability.
Despite the recent surge, the stock remains about 14% below its 52-week high of EUR 103.10. The recovery of the past few days signals that the market is willing to extend credit again — but the real test is still ahead. On November 5, the numbers will have to demonstrate how efficiently Hensoldt can convert higher production utilization into actual profit.
Until then, the share price will stay closely tethered to political signals from Berlin and Brussels. The direction looks right. The foundation still has to be delivered in November.
