Hensoldt's €10.4 Billion Backlog Meets a Split Analyst Verdict
Published on 11/08/2026 at 13:20 | Editorial boerse-global.deHensoldt closed Friday's session at €77.78, down 3.8%, as a broad selloff in AI and semiconductor names rippled across the German equity market and caught the defence electronics group in its wake. The decline capped a turbulent week in which the company raised its full-year 2026 revenue guidance, booked a surge in orders, and still found itself fielding divergent verdicts from the research desks of two major investment banks.
Deutsche Bank Research reaffirmed its "Buy" rating on Friday, keeping a €105 price target unchanged following the quarterly figures. JPMorgan, by contrast, reiterated its "Neutral" stance on Thursday alongside a €100 target. Both houses held firm to their prior assessments, leaving investors to weigh two very different readings of the same set of numbers.
The bull case rests on a nine-month performance that outpaced expectations on several fronts. Revenue for the first three quarters of 2026 came in at €1.86 billion, a 21.3% advance year on year, while adjusted EBITDA climbed 33.0% to €281 million. Jefferies, which had already confirmed its own Buy recommendation and a €98 target on Thursday, judged that both the top line and adjusted operating profit beat consensus estimates.
Order intake told an even more striking story. At €3.56 billion for the nine-month period, new business rose 76.7%, and the order backlog stood at €10.4 billion — a pipeline that gives the group unusual visibility well into the coming years.
Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Hensoldt?
Guidance, however, proved a tougher sell. Hensoldt lifted its full-year 2026 revenue forecast to approximately €2.8 billion, up from a prior expectation of around €2.8 billion, and guided toward an adjusted EBITDA margin of roughly 19.0%. Media reports suggested the upgrade nonetheless fell short of what the market had hoped for, with the analyst consensus sitting above €2.9 billion.
The sector backdrop added further pressure. Rheinmetall's profit warning weighed on defence stocks across the board, and Hensoldt — which had briefly traded higher on Thursday before reversing — was no exception.
Separately, a regulatory filing disclosed that BlackRock's total stake in Hensoldt held steady at 4.80% as of an October 30 notification, with 2.74% held in voting rights and 2.06% in instruments; the threshold was touched on October 27.
Hensoldt at a turning point? This analysis reveals what investors need to know now.
Attention now turns to London, where Hensoldt has scheduled a Capital Markets Day for November 10 — an occasion that may go some way toward settling the question of whether the stock's current valuation is a buying opportunity or a fair reflection of tempered expectations.
