USA Rare Earth Shares Surge on Strong Institutional Backing
25.02.2026 - 14:33:39 | boerse-global.deShares of USA Rare Earth have staged a significant two-day rally, propelled by substantial financial commitments from both private investors and the U.S. government. The company, which has yet to generate operational revenue as a developer of critical minerals, is channeling billions in funding toward its planned magnet manufacturing facility. This raises a pivotal question: can this formidable financial support provide the sustained momentum needed for the stock to reclaim its former highs?
Substantial Funding Paves the Way for Production
The financial landscape for USA Rare Earth is being fundamentally reshaped by recent capital infusions. To fund the construction of its magnet plant in Oklahoma, the company secured a $1.6 billion financing package from the U.S. government in January. This package comprises a $277 million grant coupled with a secured loan of $1.3 billion. An additional $1.5 billion was raised through private investment. The firm is now entirely focused on commencing commercial production at the Oklahoma site as scheduled in the first half of 2026.
Financially, the pressure remains until production begins. For the initial nine months of the previous year, USA Rare Earth reported a net loss of $248 million. Its monthly cash burn rate holds steady at approximately $2.3 million.
A Notable Price Advance Amidst Quiet Trading
The equity experienced considerable gains across two consecutive sessions. On Monday, the stock climbed 9.1 percent to $18.79. The positive trend continued into the following day, with shares advancing a further 8.5 percent intraday to reach a peak of $20.55. Despite this double-digit recovery over a short period, the price remains substantially below its 52-week high of $43.98, recorded in October 2025.
The trading activity accompanying this move was notable. Volume yesterday reached 16.5 million shares, which was about 31 percent below the daily average. The company's market capitalization now fluctuates between $4.10 billion and $4.44 billion following these recent gains.

Unwavering Confidence from Insiders and Major Institutions
Institutional investor confidence appears robust. Heavyweights significantly increased their stakes last quarter; Vanguard, for instance, expanded its position by over 533 percent to more than six million shares. Other major holders, including State Street and Alyeska Investment, also meaningfully raised their holdings.
Concurrently, insider ownership remains exceptionally high at 46.6 percent. As recently as late January, members of the Board of Directors acquired more stock. Director Michael Blitzer invested roughly $2.14 million at a purchase price of $21.44 per share—a level notably above yesterday's closing price. This bullish sentiment from within is echoed by Wall Street analysts, who currently maintain an average price target of $37.00 for the shares.
