Ten-Minute Workout and Chronic-Disease Guidelines: Why the Fitness Industry Is Remaking Itself

A new ten-minute full-body workout for beginners, requiring no equipment, has been available since early July. Trainer Tobias Lipp recommends two to three sessions per week, using functional exercises such as squats and push-ups. The offering comes from fitnessRAUM.de, a platform boasting more than 2,500 courses—and the numbers suggest it works.
According to internal surveys, members reported a 62 percent reduction in physical inactivity, a 60 percent drop in muscular tension, and a 44 percent decrease in stress levels. Many German health insurers now cover such prevention courses in full, removing the financial barrier to entry.
Governments are also taking note. The regional government of Trentino recently adopted operative guidelines for adapted physical activity (AFA), targeting people with chronic illnesses. The framework prescribes group exercises in outpatient, non-clinical settings—a policy response to the same inactivity crisis that digital platforms are tackling.
In the Pilates and fascia-training segment, demand continues to rise. Stefanie Rahn, president of the German Pilates Association, together with therapist Christian Lutz, has published "Pilates – die 50 besten Übungen" (Pilates – the 50 best exercises), a new reference work that organizes moves by difficulty level. Starting July 6, 2026, specialised courses will launch in Bernau: a Pilates programme integrated with fascia training under trainer Antinéa, plus gentle gymnastics for absolute beginners. The series "Philipp bewegt" also featured a full-body flow in early July, blending mobilisation, stretching, and strengthening to challenge both the back and the cardiovascular system.
Outdoor formats are gaining ground alongside studio-based options. Rucking—walking with a weighted backpack—is promoted as a joint-friendly alternative to jogging; the recommended load is five to ten percent of the carrier’s body weight. In Freiburg, an evaluation of 13 calisthenics stations confirms that public infrastructure for bodyweight training is steadily expanding. The "Wilde Hilde-Lauf" , which launched in early July, explicitly targets participants of all ages and mobility levels, underlining a push toward inclusive exercise.
Medical training therapy is becoming more precise. For Achilles tendon pain, experts now advise eccentric calf raises with a 24-hour rule: if morning-after pain intensifies, the intensity must be reduced. Updated recommendations for hip-replacement preparation and aftercare have also emerged. Johannes Reich, of the ENDO Rehazentrum Hamburg, identifies six key exercises—many using resistance bands—for mobilisation and strengthening.
The sustained appetite for structured health offerings shows no sign of waning. The VHS Pfaffenhofen adult education centre has announced a 2027 programme featuring 138 courses in yoga, Qi Gong, and general fitness—a clear signal that both the public and policymakers are embedding regular, guided exercise into everyday life.
