Novo Nordisk A/S is proceeding with its ongoing share repurchase initiative as scheduled. The latest phase of the program saw the pharmaceutical giant acquire an additional 1,243,000 B shares between March 9 and March 13, 2026. These transactions were executed at an average price of 249.99 Danish kroner per share, representing a total value of approximately 311 million DKK.

A Multi-Billion Kroner Repurchase Framework

The company’s current buyback effort, which commenced on February 4, 2026, is authorized to spend up to 15 billion DKK over a twelve-month period. As of March 13, Novo Nordisk has purchased a total of 6,577,992 B shares under this overarching program. The cumulative spend so far amounts to roughly 1.78 billion DKK, with an average price paid of 271.14 DKK per share.

A distinct segment of this plan targets the repurchase of shares worth up to 3.8 billion DKK, with this sub-program scheduled to conclude by May 4, 2026. Following these acquisitions, the company’s treasury now holds 23,967,791 of its own B shares. These treasury shares equate to 0.5 percent of Novo Nordisk’s total share capital.

Buybacks Executed at a Significant Discount

The repurchase activity is occurring during a period of notable share price pressure. Novo Nordisk stock is currently trading approximately 55 percent below its 52-week high of 74.12 euros, recorded in March 2025. Furthermore, the current share price sits substantially below its 200-day moving average.

This market context has allowed the company to buy shares in the recent tranche at an average price of 249.99 DKK. This figure is markedly lower than the program’s overall average of 271.14 DKK, indicating the company is acquiring its own equity at progressively lower price points as the market declines.
