Casualties and Emergency Response
The explosion injured between four and seven other workers, according to varying accounts. The injured — primarily migrant workers from Bihar and Madhya Pradesh — include Bhushan Kumar, Om Kumar, Ranjit Kumar, Simbar Singh, Raja Babu, Ranveer Kumar, Friends Kumar, Prince Kumar and Om Prakash.
Emergency services transported victims to multiple hospitals. Some were admitted to the Government Hospital in Gummidipoondi and the Government Kilpauk Medical College Hospital in Chennai, while others were taken to private medical centres in Chengalpattu and Chennai. One worker, Prince Kumar, was reported to be in critical condition.
Fire and Rescue Services deployed two teams to the scene, bringing the blaze under control within one to two hours. Authorities searched the debris to ensure no other workers remained trapped.
