Amazon is making aggressive moves across multiple high-value industries, signaling a strategic push to monetize its vast infrastructure. In a single day, the tech giant unveiled a new high-speed satellite antenna for aviation, raised the price of its ad-free streaming tier, expanded its online car marketplace, and deepened a key artificial intelligence partnership. These parallel initiatives highlight a company leveraging its scale to capture new revenue streams far beyond e-commerce.

The most technologically ambitious announcement is the new Leo Aviation Antenna, designed to provide in-flight internet with download speeds up to 1 gigabit per second and upload speeds of 400 megabits. The flat-panel device, measuring 58 inches long, 30 inches wide, and just under 2.6 inches high, has no moving parts and can reportedly be installed on an aircraft in a single day. Amazon has secured a major launch customer in Delta Air Lines, which plans to equip 500 planes with the system starting in 2028. Delta SkyMiles members will receive the Wi-Fi service for free. The airline, which already uses Amazon Web Services (AWS) for operations, is understood to have evaluated SpaceX's Starlink before choosing Amazon's solution. JetBlue is also listed as a partner.

This aviation push faces a significant competitive hurdle. SpaceX's Starlink service is already operational on commercial flights with partners like United, Hawaiian Airlines, and Qatar Airways, supported by a constellation of over 10,000 satellites. Amazon's Project Kuiper, by contrast, had launched only about 200 to 241 production satellites by April 2026. Regulatory pressure adds urgency; the company's FCC license requires half of its planned satellite constellation to be in operation by July 30, 2026.

Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Amazon?

Simultaneously, Amazon is adjusting the economics of its streaming service. Effective April 10, the ad-free subscription tier in the U.S., now rebranded "Prime Video Ultra," costs $4.99 per month, up from $2.99. Existing Prime members who had purchased the ad-free add-on will now pay a total of $19.98 monthly, a $2 increase. The higher price delivers enhanced features: five simultaneous streams instead of three, up to 100 offline downloads versus 25, and exclusive access to 4K/UHD content. Dolby Vision support is now included in the standard Prime subscription at no extra cost.

With approximately 315 million Prime Video users globally, the platform's advertising potential is substantial. Analysts project Amazon's total ad revenue will surpass $75 billion in 2026. The company's broader financial health appears robust to investors; its shares have gained about eleven percent over the past week, recently trading at 203 euros. Wall Street sentiment is bullish, with around 90 percent of analysts covering the stock recommending a buy. The average price target among 44 analysts stands at $279.59.

Beyond aviation and entertainment, Amazon is targeting another massive market: automobile sales. Its online car marketplace, initially launched with Hyundai in late 2024, now operates in over 130 U.S. cities and includes brands such as Kia, Mazda, Subaru, Chevrolet, and Jeep. The platform allows buyers to configure vehicles, complete financing digitally, and minimize time at the dealership, taking aim at a U.S. vehicle market worth over one trillion dollars. Some dealers, however, have reported sluggish early demand and logistical challenges with financing and delivery.

Adding a layer of enterprise depth, Amazon is strengthening its alliance with OpenAI. The AI firm's newly appointed Chief Revenue Officer emphasized the strategic importance of the partnership in an internal memo. Through AWS's Bedrock service, OpenAI products gain smoother access to corporate clients, a synergy expected to provide further tailwinds for Amazon's cloud division. The upcoming quarterly results, due in April, will offer the first glimpse of how these multifaceted strategies are impacting the bottom line.
