Trane Technologies launched new residential cold-climate heat pumps under its Trane and American Standard Heating & Air Conditioning brands. The systems are designed to maintain 100% heating capacity down to 5°F and continue operating at temperatures as low as -20°F, according to the company's October 1 release.

In a September 30 announcement, Trane Technologies said it had demonstrated an 800-volt direct-current cooling architecture in a laboratory test. The proof-of-concept delivered more than 1,000 tons, or 3.5 MW, of cooling capacity and showed the potential for up to 2% higher system efficiency than conventional AC counterparts, the company said in its release.
