Payments collaboration expanded

Separately, a Citi release dated September 28, 2026, said Coinbase selected Citi Services’ Virtual Account Wallet to power Coinbase Virtual Accounts. The accounts are designed to provide payments customers with bank-account-like functionality, with incoming fiat automatically converted into stablecoins.

U.S. launch planned first

The same Citi announcement said the collaboration also connects Coinbase Payments with Citi’s Spring platform so institutional clients can accept stablecoin payments and have them converted to fiat. The initiatives are launching first in the United States.
