The order picture strengthened further. Trane Technologies ended the quarter with a backlog of 12.5 billion US dollars, up 73 percent year over year. Americas Commercial HVAC backlog increased approximately 80 percent, reflecting demand for applied climate systems, building controls and energy services.
Americas Leads Regional Performance
The Americas segment generated revenue of 5.65 billion US dollars, up 21 percent on a reported basis and 19 percent organically. Adjusted operating margin improved 50 basis points to 22.3 percent, supported by volume and pricing.
Performance was less even elsewhere. EMEA revenue increased 1 percent on a reported basis and 2 percent organically, while adjusted operating margin fell 250 basis points to 17.2 percent. Asia Pacific revenue rose 8 percent, or 7 percent organically, but adjusted operating margin dropped 360 basis points to 19.7 percent. The company cited supply-chain and inflationary headwinds as continuing challenges.
