HCA Healthcare enters the week of November 2-8 with investors focused on the opening of the U.S. health-insurance exchange enrollment period and its potential effect on hospital payer mix. The enrollment window began Sunday, November 1, and runs through mid-January, according to management's October 27 earnings call.

HCA Healthcare stock traded at 424.05 euros on Lang & Schwarz at 17:21 CET on Sunday, November 1, 2026. The real-time quote of HCA Healthcare stock is available separately.

Enrollment becomes the next key signal

Chief Financial Officer Mike Marks said the enrollment period should give HCA better intelligence about exchange participation as the company evaluates its 2027 outlook. Management expects to provide more detailed guidance with the fourth-quarter update after assessing fourth-quarter operating results and exchange volumes.

The issue is material because the shift of patients from exchange coverage to uninsured care reduced third-quarter Adjusted EBITDA by approximately 400 million US dollars, according to the Yahoo Finance earnings-call transcript. Uninsured patients represented about 10.5 percent of total equivalent admissions in the quarter, compared with 8.5 percent a year earlier.

Volume strength offsets policy pressure

Management said adjusted admissions increased 3 percent on a same-facility basis in the third quarter, while the company recorded its 22nd consecutive quarter of volume growth. HCA also expects 2027 service-volume growth of 2 to 3 percent, but cautioned that Medicaid supplemental-payment benefits could be 550 million to 650 million US dollars lower next year.

For 2026, HCA reaffirmed its guidance ranges and expects results in their upper half. That outlook reflects continued volume growth and cost discipline, while exchange coverage, Medicaid policy and elective-care demand remain important variables for investors.
