- Alphabet left its 2026 capital expenditure outlook at 195 billion to 205 billion US dollars and expects a significant increase in 2027.
- Google Cloud backlog reached 561 billion US dollars, with just over 55 percent expected to convert to revenue within 24 months.
Alphabet stock advanced during Wednesday's European session, adding a new market signal to the debate over Cloud growth and artificial-intelligence investment. Since the latest relevant report published on Wednesday, November 4, at 08:35 CET, the Lang & Schwarz quote rose from 247.65 euros to 255.55 euros at 15:36 CET, a 3.19 percent increase.
Cloud growth remains the bright spot
Alphabet's third-quarter results, released on October 28 for the period ended September 30, showed consolidated revenue of 127.6 billion US dollars, up 25 percent year over year. Google Cloud revenue more than doubled to 30.7 billion US dollars, while Cloud operating income more than tripled to 11.1 billion US dollars.
In its Alphabet Investor Relations earnings call, management said demand for AI infrastructure and solutions was driving Cloud growth. The segment's backlog reached 561 billion US dollars, and the company expects to recognize just over 55 percent of that amount as revenue over the next 24 months.
AI investment keeps cash in focus
The same update also highlighted the cost of the expansion. Alphabet spent 51.4 billion US dollars on capital expenditure in the third quarter, with most of the investment directed toward technical infrastructure for AI. Free cash flow was negative 9.1 billion US dollars, while management kept its 2026 capital expenditure outlook at 195 billion to 205 billion US dollars and said spending would increase significantly in 2027.
Management also expects near-term pressure on Google Cloud margins as third-party computing capacity is used to meet demand. For investors, the central question is whether fast Cloud growth and expanding AI monetization can generate returns that justify the infrastructure burden.
