- Google Cloud revenue more than doubled as enterprise demand for AI infrastructure and solutions accelerated.
- Reported earnings declined after a loss on equity securities, even as operating income increased.
- Management expects capital spending to rise significantly in 2027 after heavy investment in technical infrastructure.
Alphabet Inc. reported its third-quarter results on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, for the period ended September 30. The company said in its SEC-filed earnings release that revenue reached 127.577 billion US dollars, up 25 percent from the prior-year quarter and marking the 13th consecutive quarter of double-digit growth.
Alphabet stock traded at 252.95 euros on Lang & Schwarz at 10:46 CET on Monday, November 2, 2026. The quote gives investors a current European trading reference as the market weighs the company's latest earnings and its large artificial-intelligence investment program.
Cloud growth offsets slower advertising momentum
Google Cloud was the strongest operating growth driver. Revenue rose 103 percent year over year to 30.709 billion US dollars, while segment operating income increased to 11.121 billion US dollars from 3.594 billion US dollars. Alphabet attributed the expansion to demand for Google Cloud Platform services, enterprise AI infrastructure, AI solutions and TPU systems.
Google Services revenue increased 11 percent to 96.302 billion US dollars. Google Search and other revenue rose 12 percent to 63.350 billion US dollars, while YouTube advertising revenue reached 11.207 billion US dollars. Chief Executive Sundar Pichai said the year-over-year growth rate for search queries was the highest in five years, and the company said its Gemini app had reached one billion users.
Investment burden reshapes the profit picture
Operating income rose 30 percent to 40.576 billion US dollars, lifting the operating margin to 31.8 percent. Net income available to common stockholders, however, fell to 26.170 billion US dollars from 34.979 billion US dollars a year earlier, and diluted earnings per share declined to 2.12 US dollars from 2.87 US dollars.
The main drag below operating income was an 8.664 billion US dollar loss on equity securities. Alphabet said the item reduced net income by 6.7 billion US dollars and diluted earnings per share by 0.55 US dollars. The result therefore combines stronger operating performance with a material investment-related hit to reported earnings.
Capital expenditure reached 51.355 billion US dollars in the quarter, compared with 23.953 billion US dollars a year earlier. Operating cash flow was 42.290 billion US dollars, leaving quarterly free cash flow at negative 9.065 billion US dollars under Alphabet's stated definition.
Management points to heavier 2027 spending
Alphabet maintained its 2026 capital-spending outlook of 195 billion to 205 billion US dollars and said spending is expected to increase significantly in 2027. The company also issued 12.371 billion US dollars of common stock and raised 28.996 billion US dollars through debt issuance during the quarter, highlighting the financing dimension of its AI expansion.
For investors, the central question is whether Cloud growth, higher search usage and expanding Gemini adoption can generate returns that justify the infrastructure bill. The quarter provides evidence of strong demand, but the negative free-cash-flow figure and the planned spending increase keep capital efficiency at the center of the Alphabet stock debate.
Alphabet also declared a quarterly common-stock dividend of 0.22 US dollars per share, payable on December 14, 2026, to shareholders of record on December 7, 2026.
