The Broad hosts L.A. Taco celebration on 24 October

The Broad and Celebrate Community with L.A. Taco are bringing a two-day programme to Los Angeles from 24 to 25 October 2026. The event takes place at East West Bank Plaza outside the contemporary art museum and combines music, art-making and community activities.

The programme is presented with L.A. TACO, an independent Los Angeles newsroom and cultural platform. Saturday’s activities form part of Grand Avenue Arts: All Access, which brings performances, tours and workshops to arts institutions along Grand Avenue.

Visitors can join Family Weekend Workshop activities with water-based paint, contribute to a collaborative mural and watch artists SABER and Mr B Baby create new work. The event also includes DJ sets, local organisations and a community market. A free print of Guadalupe Rosales’s work Has the myth been shattered is available to attendees while supplies last.

The weekend arrives while the museum is reinstalling two-thirds of its third-floor collection galleries. New pairings include works by John Baldessari, Alex Israel, Sharon Lockhart, Ed Ruscha and Jonas Wood, giving the public a changing view of the collection during the expansion project.

The first-floor galleries will be closed for installation during the event, while the third-floor galleries remain part of the same-day general admission access. The event therefore connects an outdoor community programme with the museum’s current internal reinstallation rather than presenting the whole building as available.

The museum opened in 2015 and is now preparing an expansion that is expected to open in 2028. The project will increase gallery space by 70 per cent, while reporting by the Los Angeles Times describes the expansion as continuing while the existing museum remains open.

The current programme also previews the collection exhibition Has the myth been shattered, which is scheduled to be on view from 21 November 2026 to 4 April 2027. That title comes from Rosales’s 2024 work, which is being distributed as a free event poster while supplies last.
