South Beach hosts the Miami Short Film Festival from 13 to 15 November 2026, with the opening night at O Cinema South Beach in Miami Beach. The programme brings short films, filmmaker discussions and independent cinema to a neighbourhood known for its Art Deco streetscape.
Short film festival opens at O Cinema South Beach
The 25th edition begins on Friday, 13 November 2026, at O Cinema South Beach. The festival organiser lists the opening screening as Echoes We Carry, with the venue identified as O Cinema South Beach in Miami Beach on its 2026 festival calendar.
The wider programme continues on 14 and 15 November at Silverspot Cinema in Downtown Miami and at Deering Estate. Listed screenings include A World After, Time Will Tell, Between Light and Reality, A Local Vision and The Invisible Within. The official programme also names States of Becoming and Wild at Heart for Deering Estate, while the festival describes its focus as films lasting from one to 20 minutes.
Public broadcaster WLRN reports that the Miami Short Film Festival is presenting its 25th edition across O Cinema South Beach, Silverspot Downtown Miami and the Deering Estate Visitor Center. Its report also identifies curated screenings, filmmaker question-and-answer sessions and special events within the November programme.
Why the cinema belongs to South Beach’s film setting
O Cinema South Beach places the festival inside the Washington Avenue section of South Beach rather than at a remote event site. The organiser gives the cinema’s address as 1130 Washington Ave, Miami Beach, Florida 33139, confirming the venue’s position within the neighbourhood.
The setting adds a local architectural layer to a programme devoted to contemporary filmmaking. The City of Miami Beach records more than 800 Art Deco properties built between 1923 and 1943, and identifies South Beach as an area where preservationists began documenting a concentration of 1930s buildings in 1977.
That connection is practical as well as visual: a visitor attending the 13 November opening can combine an indoor film screening with a walk through the surrounding historic streets. The film festival therefore uses a cinema in South Beach while the district supplies the built context outside the screening room.
Three venues shape the November programme
The festival’s venue plan links South Beach with two different Miami settings. O Cinema South Beach hosts the opening night, Silverspot Cinema carries several screenings on 14 and 15 November, and Deering Estate hosts named evening screenings on those dates.
The programme’s range is reflected in its listed titles and categories. The organiser identifies narrative, documentary, experimental, music video and local film strands, alongside films from American and international filmmakers. These details make the South Beach date part of a larger festival circuit rather than a standalone cinema screening.
