Macau Tower will host Oxfam TowerRun 2026 on 15 November 2026 in Macau, China. The charity race will use the tower's stairways for individual, relay and leadership challenges, with Oxfam linking the event to support for left-behind children.
Oxfam TowerRun brings a stair race to Macau Tower
Oxfam says the 13th Oxfam TowerRun will take place on Sunday, 15 November 2026. The event is open for registration until 23 October 2026, while runner's packs are scheduled for collection from 4 to 9 November 2026.
The event day is listed for 8am to 1pm at Macau Tower's ground floor and outdoor plaza. The organiser's event schedule for 15 November 2026 also sets out collection arrangements for participants who do not live in Macau.
Macau Tower's 61 floors define the November challenge
The race is built around the structure itself rather than a nearby course. Oxfam lists full-tower individual races for elite and open categories, a half-tower challenge, a four-person relay and a seven-floor leader's run.
Participants in the full and half individual categories will climb 1,298 stairs to reach the 61st floor, according to the organiser. That makes the November programme a direct test of the tower's vertical layout, linking the charity's fundraising purpose to one of the building's most distinctive physical features.
The World Federation of Great Towers records the building as opened in 2001, with a total height of 338 metres (1,109 ft), an observation level at 223 metres (732 ft) and Gordon Moller of CCMBECA as architect. Its tower profile and facts describe it as a conference, entertainment and observation complex in Macau.
Oxfam links the tower race to support for children
Oxfam states that money raised through the event will support poverty alleviation and development work, including education and wellbeing projects for left-behind children in mainland China. The race therefore combines a public sporting event with a stated charitable purpose, while keeping the tower's stairwell at its centre.
The programme offers several formats rather than a single ascent. Individual runners can choose the full or half course, teams can enter a four-person relay, and the leader's run covers seven floors. The organiser says full and half individual entrants must be at least 16 years old.
