Helsinki Cathedral (Helsingin tuomiokirkko) in Helsinki will host the Tulkoon valo programme from 1 October to 1 November 2026, bringing Luke Jerram's Helios installation, discussions and music into the Lutheran landmark.

Helios connects a new programme with a 1852 church
The cathedral stands on the north side of Senate Square as part of Helsinki's Empire-style centre. Architect Carl Ludvig Engel designed the Neoclassical church, while Ernst Bernhard Lohrmann continued the work after Engel's death.
Drawings for the building existed by 1818, but the church was not consecrated until 1852. Its central dome rises more than 80 metres above sea level, and twelve zinc statues of the Apostles decorate the four pediments. The new Sun installation therefore enters a building whose architecture was designed around a strong central vertical axis and a carefully planned city square.
