La Nuit des 1000 Ave comes to Yamoussoukro on 30 October
The basilica’s official programme lists the event for Friday 30 October 2026, beginning at 6pm and continuing until 6am. The programme names rosary meditation, praise and a Eucharistic celebration as its main elements.
The event is presented as a special October gathering linked to the month of the Holy Rosary. The organiser describes it as taking place at the basilica in Yamoussoukro, giving travellers a specific religious occasion rather than a routine daily service. The official event programme provides the date, overnight period and venue.
How the prayer night relates to the basilica’s history
The basilica is a Marian sanctuary and a place of worship, pilgrimage and architectural interest. The Archdiocese of Abidjan records that Pope John Paul II consecrated it on 10 September 1990, when it received the honorary title of minor basilica.
Its first stone was laid on 2 February 1986. Construction began in July 1986 and ended in September 1989, following plans by architect Pierre Fakhoury. Those dates place the 30 October 2026 prayer night within a building whose present religious role follows a four-year construction period and a consecration more than three decades ago. The diocesan history of the basilica identifies the Pallottine Fathers and Brothers as responsible for its pastoral and spiritual care.
