Bariloche hosts NAVE de No Ficción, the fourth Ibero-American Narrative Journalism Festival, from 5 to 7 November 2026. The programme brings talks, workshops, exhibitions and screenings to Puerto San Carlos and the National University of Río Negro beside Lake Nahuel Huapi.
The city is in Argentina’s Río Negro province, within Nahuel Huapi National Park and beside the Andes. NAVE gives the lakeside destination a current cultural programme alongside its established natural and outdoor attractions.
NAVE brings three days of journalism to Bariloche
The Fundación de Periodismo Patagónico organises the festival, which the municipal tourism office lists for 5, 6 and 7 November 2026. The municipal festival listing confirms the dates in the city’s events calendar.
NAVE’s programme covers narrative journalism and non-fiction through conversations, training sessions, photography, audio work, documentary film and literary presentations. María Moreno is the guest of honour, while Martín Caparrós joins one discussion virtually from Spain. More than thirty guests from Argentina, Chile, Uruguay and Colombia are named in the programme.
Saturday 7 November includes a workshop led by María Moreno, a poetry session with Jorge Spíndola and a presentation of the anthology El pianista que jamás llegó al concierto. The day also offers discussions on public intimacy, independent journalism and the relationship between journalism and literature.
The organiser’s Saturday programme places the talks and book presentation at Puerto San Carlos, at Juan Manuel de Rosas 71. Workshops take place at the National University of Río Negro, at Anasagasti 1463.
Lake Nahuel Huapi frames the festival venues
Puerto San Carlos stands beside Lake Nahuel Huapi, opposite the lakefront area and close to the Civic Centre. The venue therefore links the festival’s public discussions with one of the city’s established urban and natural reference points.
The lake is glacial and covers 557 square kilometres, according to the official lake information. It lies at 700 metres above sea level and has seven named branches, including Campanario, Blest and Huemul.
The surrounding national park also explains why the festival’s locations matter for visitors. The city sits inside Nahuel Huapi National Park, while its cultural venues are concentrated in the built-up centre near the lake. A visit to NAVE can therefore combine a fixed programme with access to a clearly defined waterfront district.
Bariloche’s tourism history is tied to the park. The official city account records that Francisco P. Moreno donated land in 1903 to create Argentina’s first national park, while the arrival of the railway in 1934 strengthened tourism in the area. The Civic Centre remains one of the city’s principal historic reference points.
