The announcement covers two newly mastered LP editions and the first Sam’s Town seven-inch box set.
The Killers mark Sam’s Town with three vinyl editions
On 2 October 2026, the announcement names a 2LP 45 RPM audiophile edition, a Red Smoke 33 RPM LP and a seven-inch box set. The vinyl formats were mastered and cut by Ryan Smith at Sterling Sound from assembled analogue masters.
The audiophile edition uses two 180-gram records at 45 RPM, with a heavyweight gatefold sleeve, an OBI strip and a 12-page booklet. Pressed at Optimal Media in Germany, it adds the bonus track Peace Of Mind. The Red Smoke edition follows the same mastering and uses one 180-gram record at 33 RPM.
The box set gathers the album’s original-era singles with their respective B-sides. It includes When You Were Young, Bones, Read My Mind and For Reasons Unknown. A fifth single pairs Peace Of Mind with the Like Rebel Diamonds Mix of Read My Mind, as detailed in the box-set contents.
Sam’s Town shows The Killers’ album-to-single design
Sam’s Town was the follow-up to Hot Fuss and The Killers’ second album. The record followed the band’s return to Las Vegas after touring behind its debut. Alan Moulder and Flood worked with the band as producers.
The announcement connects the album’s full-length format with a separate archive of its singles. That split gives the anniversary editions two distinct listening routes: the 2LP presents the album, while the box set gathers its singles.
The Sam’s Town box set adds a singles archive
The bonus material adds a new detail to the vinyl presentation. Peace Of Mind appears on the audiophile edition and also leads the fifth seven-inch. The box set pairs it with the Like Rebel Diamonds Mix of Read My Mind, which receives its first vinyl release.
The set thus joins a remastered album, a coloured-vinyl edition and a singles collection in one anniversary programme. Together, the formats keep the focus on Sam’s Town while presenting different physical designs for the same album era.
