Darker Waves puts Simple Minds on a Huntington Beach bill
The band’s official announcement places the appearance at Darker Waves Festival in Huntington Beach on Saturday 14 November 2026. Live Nation’s event listing gives Huntington State Beach as the venue and names Simple Minds alongside Morrissey and The Smashing Pumpkins.
Morrissey and The Smashing Pumpkins are identified as headliners, while Simple Minds appear among the additional performances. The bill also includes Bad Religion, Adam Ant, The Psychedelic Furs and Soft Cell, giving the Huntington Beach date a broad new-wave and post-punk frame.
Simple Minds carry Glasgow new wave into the festival
Simple Minds are a Scottish rock band led by singer Jim Kerr and guitarist Charlie Burchill. Their music is associated with art rock, synth-pop and new wave, while their catalogue includes New Gold Dream, Once Upon a Time and Street Fighting Years.
The festival pairing links the band’s established new-wave repertoire with a programme that brings together several generations of alternative rock. Simple Minds’ place on the bill sits between the event’s two named headliners and a wider group of artists from adjacent scenes.
Sacrosanct adds a new release to the Simple Minds schedule
Simple Minds have also announced their next studio album, Sacrosanct, for release on 29 January 2027 via BMG. The published track listing includes Elysium, King of the Underworld and Beginner Boys.
The album announcement gives the Huntington Beach appearance a connection to the band’s next recording cycle. The live date arrives before the later release, while the festival set remains part of the band’s scheduled international activity.
