Olivia Rodrigo released the Expectations remix with Chappell Roan on 15 October 2026. The track arrived with a music video built around a series of retro game-show settings.
Expectations remix pairs Olivia Rodrigo with Chappell Roan
The new version reworks Rodrigo’s song with an entirely new verse from Roan. The collaboration also marks Roan’s first feature on another artist’s track, according to Billboard’s release details.
The release places Expectations back alongside the third album on which the original song appears, You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love. The remix therefore extends an existing album track through a new vocal arrangement and a separate visual setting.
Olivia Rodrigo’s first remix extends her third album
Rolling Stone identifies the first remix as a notable change in Rodrigo’s recorded output. Roan’s contribution gives the song a second vocal perspective while retaining its place in Rodrigo’s album catalogue.
Both artists work with producer Dan Nigro, who is also connected to their wider music. The pairing brings together Rodrigo’s original recording and Roan’s newly written section without turning the release into a new album track.
The Big Expectations Show brings David Byrne into the video
The accompanying video presents Rodrigo and Roan as contestants in a fictional television setting. Its segments include The Big Expectations Show and Sister Squabble, a game-show spoof built around the pair facing one another.
David Byrne appears as the fictional emcee Johnny Johnson. The visual uses several retro game-show references, giving the remix a distinct presentation beyond its updated vocal arrangement.
