New Order’s Manchester sound meets a Chilean festival programme
New Order came out of Manchester and developed a musical language that joins post-punk, synth-pop and electronic dance music. BBC Music’s history describes the band’s path from post-punk towards electropop and club-oriented sounds.
Their catalogue includes Movement, Power, Corruption & Lies, Low-Life, Brotherhood, Technique and Substance. The Official Charts profile records the group’s rock and electronic blend and identifies Bernard Sumner, Peter Hook and Stephen Morris among the founding musicians. The Santiago programme therefore connects a festival setting with the same post-punk and dance lineage that defines New Order’s recorded work.
