The digital edition brings archival recordings, new remixes and collaborations into a 27-track collection.
Glitter returned as an expanded edition on 30 October
The anniversary edition arrived through Def Jam Records and UMe, returning the album to streaming and marking its first return to vinyl since the original release. The Apple Music track listing records 27 songs across the digital edition.
The label’s release details from Universal Music Canada identify the project as a 25th anniversary edition. The announcement also names Channel Tres and Rochelle Jordan among the collaborators on newly expanded material.
How the 27-track Glitter edition extends the soundtrack
The original album sequence occupies the first disc, while the second disc adds 15 recordings from Carey’s archive and related sessions. These include Lead The Way (1997 Version), Want You (Mariah Only Version), Out Here On My Own (Alternate Vocal Take) and All My Life (A Cappella).
The expanded set also contains a writing-session interlude and a rough demo of Never Too Far. A Never Too Far / Hero (Medley) featuring Westlife and Glitter Medley (Live from the Caution Tour) add different perspectives on the material.
New interpretations include Channel Tres’s remix of All My Life and Rochelle Jordan’s version of Didn’t Mean To Turn You On. The collection further adds MJ Cole and Club Of Love remixes of Loverboy, alongside the Loverboy (Firecracker - Original Version).
Why Glitter still matters in Mariah Carey’s catalogue
Glitter is Carey’s eighth studio album and the soundtrack to the film of the same name. Its musical palette combines dance-pop, funk, hip-hop and R&B, with production from Jimmy Jam, Terry Lewis and DJ Clue.
The reissue connects those soundtrack foundations with recordings that had remained outside the original sequence. It also places Carey’s vocal performances alongside new work from Channel Tres and Rochelle Jordan, linking archival material with contemporary collaborators.
The vinyl programme gives the project two physical forms. The standard edition appears on Midnight Purple 2LP vinyl, while the limited deluxe version uses Glittering Pink 2LP vinyl and adds three bonus tracks.
