The annual gala is scheduled for 25 October 2026 in ?ód?, with Iggy Pop named among this year's recipients. A Soundedit programme update places the award ceremony alongside the festival's Sunday punk programme and identifies the honour as the Golden Ear award.
Soundedit's 2026 edition runs from 23 to 27 October 2026. Its public programme combines concerts with a gala, workshops and lectures, while professional sessions address music production and new audio technologies. The Sunday gala schedule places the ceremony within the main programme at Wytwórnia.
Iggy Pop's Stooges roots frame the Golden Ear honour
Iggy Pop first established his musical identity in Ann Arbor, Michigan, as the frontman of the Psychedelic Stooges. The group became known as the Stooges and helped define the raw rock sound that fed into punk. Iggy Pop biography identifies the band as an American group whose principal early members included Pop, Ron Asheton, Scott Asheton and Dave Alexander.
The Stooges catalogue includes The Stooges, Fun House and Raw Power, while Pop's solo work includes The Idiot and Lust for Life. The connection between those records and Soundedit is direct: the award recognises performers alongside producers, sound engineers and other figures in recorded music.
Soundedit links the award to production culture
The festival presents itself as a meeting point for artists, producers, engineers and listeners interested in how music is made. Its 2026 programme moves between stage performances, a discussion of punk history, practical workshops and talks on recording technology.
For Iggy Pop, the ceremony places a long-standing punk figure inside an event built around the wider ecosystem of recorded music. The Golden Ear award therefore sits beside the concerts, while the ?ód? setting connects the ceremony to the city's music community.
