Iggy Pop’s Soundedit honour arrives in October

The Man with the Golden Ear recognises artists, producers and sound engineers who push recorded music in new directions. The award announcement links Iggy Pop’s honour to his expressiveness, uncompromising artistry and influence on recording history. Soundedit names him as the third honouree for its 2026 edition, alongside Polish producer Bogdan Kondracki and musician Ziemowit Kosmowski.

Soundedit’s 18th edition will run in ?ód? from 23 to 27 October 2026. The programme will include concerts, an awards gala, workshops and lectures, as well as sessions on music production and new audio technologies. The festival’s programme details place the honour within that wider event.

Iggy Pop’s punk history meets a recording award

Pop’s connection to the honour runs through both sides of his career. As the lead singer of The Stooges, he helped establish a raw strand of punk rock. As a solo artist, he developed a catalogue that reaches from abrasive rock to more experimental work.

The award’s emphasis on recorded sound mirrors the two strands of Pop’s career: the Stooges’ raw rock and his studio collaborations. He worked with David Bowie on The Idiot and Lust for Life, while an Official Charts profile traces his work as a singer, songwriter and producer.
