Farewell to Mexico brings Elton John back to Estadio Banorte
The official Mexico City announcement describes the programme as a special performance rather than a continuation of the Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour. It says the set draws on career-spanning hits and fan favourites selected for the country’s audience. That framing links the venue, the city and the music in a concert created specifically for Mexico.
Infobae’s concert details list an 8pm start on 3 October, local time in Mexico City. The performance takes place at Estadio Banorte, formerly known as Estadio Azteca, in the Coyoacán district.
Elton John’s Mexico City return draws on a long stage history
The official announcement describes the Mexico City shows as his first appearances in the city in 14 years. It also says Elton John curated the set exclusively for Mexican audiences, giving the performance a clear local identity rather than presenting a standard tour stop.
The stadium’s official venue page lists a capacity of 87,000. That scale places the concert in a major stadium setting, while the programme remains centred on songs from across Elton John’s career. The combination of a large venue and a city-specific set gives the date a distinct place in his live calendar.
