Dolly Parton’s Christmas Carol begins in Princeton
The national tour will begin in Princeton on 14 November, according to the official announcement. Right Angle Entertainment and Paul T. Couch produce the show, while David H. Bell wrote the book and adapted the stage version with Couch and Curt Wollan.
The published schedule gives the venue as Chuck Mathena Center and lists the production under its full title. It also places performances in Morgantown on 15 and 16 November, at WVU’s Canady Creative Arts Center.
Music and lyrics place Dolly Parton at the story’s centre
The production draws on Parton’s work as a songwriter, with the billing crediting her with music and lyrics. Her country songwriting sits alongside a theatrical book by David H. Bell, creating the musical framework for the stage version.
That combination connects the holiday show with the musical identity associated with Parton. The Smoky Mountains setting also reflects the Tennessee landscape named in the production’s description, linking the story’s place to the singer’s artistic background.
A Smoky Mountain setting shapes the holiday production
The plot reworks Dickens’ Christmas tale around Ebenezer Scrooge, who is presented as the owner of a mining company town. A snowstorm approaches, while a deceased business partner and three ghosts lead Scrooge towards a different understanding of life.
The production combines that familiar story with Parton’s songwriting expertise and a distinctly East Tennessee setting. Antoinette DiPietropolo directs and choreographs the show, which is produced by Right Angle Entertainment and Paul T. Couch.
