Alice in Chains released Unplugged reissue on 25 September
Published on 10/03/2026 at 12:08 | Editorial responsibility: Rafael Müller, Editor-in-Chief AD HOC NEWSAlice in Chains released the 30th-anniversary reissue of Unplugged on 25 September 2026. The edition presented the band’s live album in new physical formats.
Alice in Chains mark a 30th anniversary live release
The band’s official anniversary listing names the item Unplugged 30th Anniversary and presents vinyl as one format. The release details describe new CD and vinyl pressings and give 25 September 2026 as the planned release date. With that date passed, the edition stands as a completed catalogue release rather than a future announcement.
It revisits a live album built from a performance recorded for MTV. That connection gives the release a concert-history focus, while the anniversary presentation keeps the performance at its centre. The work therefore sits between live recording and physical reissue without changing its identity as an album. That link between the performance and the new formats is the edition’s clearest defining feature.
Unplugged keeps Alice in Chains tied to live performance
Unplugged keeps Alice in Chains tied to a live performance rather than a new studio recording. The band’s official homepage places the anniversary edition in its shop-led presentation, alongside its wider album material. The result is a release centred on an established performance, not a new set of songs. That makes the anniversary edition a catalogue event with a live recording at its core.
The MTV connection also explains why the physical reissue belongs to the group’s performance history. Rather than treating the anniversary as a separate project, the edition keeps the original album title and live format together. That continuity links the release’s commemorative purpose with a clearly named Alice in Chains work.
Black and Solar Flare vinyl define the physical edition
Black and Solar Flare are the two vinyl presentations named for the official store. The same release also includes a CD pressing, giving the anniversary edition two physical formats.
The formats offer a choice between a standard black record and a coloured edition while preserving the same album identity. Physical presentation is therefore part of the release’s character, rather than an accessory to a separate digital launch.
