Good Weather for Immaculate Conception arrives on 6 November
An album announcement from CBC Music confirms the 6 November release. Rolling Stone France’s album report describes the record as Morissette’s first full-length holiday project.
The album brings together familiar Christmas repertoire and new material. Its original songs are Christmas on the Dance Floor and To An Empath at Christmas Time, while the seasonal selections include O Holy Night, Last Christmas and Joni Mitchell’s River.
Alanis Morissette connects new songs with seasonal standards
The project places Morissette’s alternative-rock songwriting alongside a repertoire associated with the holiday season. By pairing two new compositions with standards and earlier covers, the release connects her own writing with a broader seasonal songbook.
The structure also gives the album a clear balance between familiar material and newly recorded work. The 14-track programme includes established Christmas songs, recent seasonal interpretations and original material written for the record.
The 14-track album brings together a wide guest cast
Brandi Carlile and Steve Martin appear together on Beautiful Star of Bethlehem, which serves as the lead single. Joy Oladokun, Martin Short, Amythyst Kiah and Trans Voices are also named among the collaborators.
The tracklist moves from traditional songs such as Ave Maria and Little Drummer Boy to newer seasonal favourites. It also includes Happy Xmas (War Is Over), What Child Is This?, O Tannenbaum, Silent Night and Merry Christmas.
