The performances support BBC Children in Need and take place at 1pm and 6pm.
ABBA Voyage’s London format meets BBC Radio 2
The two performances are presented with BBC Radio 2 as part of its BBC Children in Need programme. The BBC Radio 2 announcement confirms the date, the two showtimes and the venue at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.
Vernon Kay hosts both performances. The programme brings ABBA Voyage’s established concert format into a specially presented charity event, while retaining the London production’s combination of digital performance and live musicians.
ABBA’s digital quartet shares the stage with ten musicians
ABBA Voyage presents digital versions of Agnetha Fältskog, Björn Ulvaeus, Benny Andersson and Anni-Frid Lyngstad. A live ten-piece band performs the music in real time beneath the digital images.
The BroadwayWorld’s ABBA Voyage account describes the production as a full-scale concert experience created by the four members. Its purpose-built arena therefore functions as both a London venue and the setting for the band’s digital stage presence.
BBC Children in Need shapes the 8 November programme
The gala performances are held in aid of BBC Children in Need and are presented with BBC Radio 2. That combination gives the 8 November programme a clear charitable purpose alongside its music presentation.
Both performances take place at the ABBA Arena in Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. The venue is the permanent London home of ABBA Voyage, whose live band and digital production operate together during the concert.
