Nokia's share price surged 10.97% to a 52-week high after unveiling AI agents with specific performance targets for fixed networks, driving 162% 12-month gains.

Nokia's share price exploded to a fresh 52-week high on Wednesday, gaining 10.97 percent to close at 12.45 euros. The rally caps a remarkable run: the stock has climbed 48.33 percent over the past 30 days, pushing year-to-date returns past 118 percent and 12-month gains to 162.74 percent. Investors are betting that the Finnish network equipment maker's latest push into autonomous artificial intelligence will translate into hard revenue growth.

The catalyst is a suite of AI agents Nokia is embedding into its fixed-network platforms Altiplano, Corteca and Broadband Easy. Crucially, the company is not just talking about vague AI capabilities — it has published unusually specific performance targets. Nokia expects the agents to lift first-contact resolution rates at helpdesks above 50 percent, qualify network incidents within five minutes, and halve the number of return visits to customer sites. For field technicians, a conversational AI assistant will deliver product knowledge via text, voice and image, while computer vision checks work quality and helps build digital twins of fiber networks extending into homes.

The announcement lands in a market already reassessing Nokia's trajectory. The telecommunications industry is expected to spend roughly $6.2 billion on agentic AI by 2030 — systems that don't simply execute commands but independently contextualize tasks and prepare decisions. Nokia's own cloud and AI networking revenue jumped 49 percent in the first quarter of 2026, with new orders totaling 1 billion euros. Management has raised its expected annual growth rate for that business to 27 percent through 2028.

Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Nokia?

Analyst upgrades have added fuel to the rally. JPMorgan lifted its price target from 6.90 to 12 euros, maintaining an "Overweight" rating. Morgan Stanley followed with a target hike from 8.50 to 11 euros, also staying overweight. Argus went further, upgrading Nokia from "Hold" to "Buy" with a $15 target, citing stronger AI demand and improving growth prospects in Network Infrastructure.

CEO Justin Hotard is positioning the move within a broader industry shift toward what he calls "physical AI" — networks built intelligent from the ground up, not just applications with AI features. He sees a fresh investment wave in 5G Advanced, 6G and cloud networks, where Nokia can differentiate itself as a provider of open, controllable infrastructure. The company stresses that telecom operators will not be locked into a single large language model; instead they can choose the AI engine that fits their regulated, security-sensitive environments.

Yet the commercial proof still lies ahead. Nokia must demonstrate that tier-1 operators will broadly adopt the new AI functions and pay for them on a recurring basis. The company also faces competition from cloud giants in the data-center networking space, though it aims to win with open interfaces and multi-vendor partnerships. After Wednesday's surge, the valuation bar is high — but the specific efficiency promises give the rally a more tangible foundation than a simple hype-driven bounce.

The move also reflects Nokia's sharper strategic focus. The fixed-wireless business was offloaded to Inseego in late April, and the group now centers on Network Infrastructure and Mobile Infrastructure as its core operating pillars. The market is pricing in not just a clever product launch, but a leaner, more software-driven Nokia with a clearer path to monetizing the AI infrastructure buildout.
