Graphite One has quietly begun moving from pure exploration into commercial qualification, dispatching up to 20-kilogram batches of anode material to three electric-vehicle makers and three battery producers. All six are currently running specification tests, and the company has opened preliminary talks on binding offtake agreements — though not a single contract has been signed yet.

The twin catalysts that will determine the stock’s trajectory are now clearly defined: a final permit decision for the Graphite Creek mine in Alaska on 29 September 2026, and the conversion of those early customer conversations into revenue-generating deals.

Ohio Site Secured as Production Targets Take Shape

The company has locked down a site in Conneaut, Ashtabula County, Ohio, for its processing and mixing facility through a use agreement with the Bessemer and Lake Erie Railroad, a subsidiary of Canadian National Railway. Phase one targets an annual capacity of 10,000 tonnes of active anode material, with completion pencilled in for the fourth quarter of 2027. A second expansion phase, aiming for 25,000 tonnes of graphitization capacity, is under evaluation for the third quarter of 2028.

Graphite One intends to split the initial output deliberately: 4,000 tonnes earmarked for energy-storage applications, with the remainder dedicated to fast-charging and high-density materials for EV batteries. The Ohio location offers direct rail and Great Lakes access — a logistical necessity given that raw graphite will travel from the Graphite Creek project in Alaska across the continent.

Alaska Permit: The Gateway to $2 Billion in Federal Funding

The permitting timeline now takes centre stage. The Graphite Creek project is the first Alaska mining venture ever included in the federal FAST-41 dashboard in 2025, and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is conducting the review, currently listed as “in process”. A go-ahead on 29 September 2026 would formally unlock a federal financing pipeline worth more than $2 billion, allowing the company to accelerate mine construction and adhere to its 2027 completion target.

Stock Recovers from September Lows but Remains Deep in the Red

Shares traded at €0.77 on the day of the update, up about 7% and extending a recovery that began last week. That still leaves the stock nearly 50% below its 52-week high of €1.52, and the year-to-date deficit stands at roughly 34%. For context, the share price hit a trough of €0.42 last September, making the current level a meaningful — if fragile — rebound.

Investors will also watch the annual general meeting scheduled for 26 June 2026, where a vote on stock options for executives — exercisable at C$1.13 — is on the agenda. The permit deadline and the signing of the first offtake contracts remain the two concrete milestones the market will use to gauge Graphite One’s progress from here.
