The fitness industry is shifting focus toward the midsection, with trainers urging a move away from traditional cardio and static stretching before exercise. Personal trainer Luke Worthington recommends choosing specific movements that directly prepare the body for the upcoming activity rather than generic warm-ups.

Harley Pasternak, a well-known fitness coach, champions an exercise called “Hollow Body Rocks” for strengthening abdominal muscles without straining the back. The move involves lying on the back with arms and legs extended, then rocking in a controlled motion. Beginners can start with a static “Hollowman” hold lasting 30 seconds.

These insights arrive as the World-Jumping-Event prepares to offer intense full-body training on trampolines in Duisburg on the evening of July 8. The session runs from 19:45 to 20:45 and costs €70, promising an effective workout on an elastic surface. Similar concepts are thriving across the border: the JUMP DOME in Leonding near Linz claims the title of the region’s largest trampoline park with 4,000 square meters and 18 attractions. During the summer holidays it opens daily from 9:00 to 20:00, and a special holiday program with prize-wheel activities marks the end of the school year.

Beyond trampoline events, Duisburg’s summer sports calendar offers plenty of variety. The Floorwolves train on Mondays in Duissern and Thursdays in Hochfeld. Outdoor Zumba is scheduled for July 13 at a cost of €38.40. Runners can look forward to the 17th Zoolauf on July 10—rescheduled due to heat—featuring distances for school students, relays, and walkers. The Duisburg Hauptzollamt will conduct sports badge assessments at the Schwelgernstadion on July 21 and 28.

Outdoor cinema completes the summer lineup. The Stadtwerke Sommerkino at Landschaftspark Duisburg-Nord has already sold 35,300 tickets. The season begins on July 10 with a film by director Sönke Wortmann. Due to high demand, additional screenings have been added in July and August.
