Xiaomi Corporation is demonstrating operational strength across multiple business segments, even as its share price has recently faced pressure. The first week of April brought significant developments on three key fronts: artificial intelligence, electric vehicles, and premium smartphone hardware, painting a picture of a company executing a broad strategic vision.

Electric Vehicle Ambitions Gain Traction

The company's automotive division, Xiaomi Auto, is generating substantial interest. CEO Lei Jun announced on April 2nd that the new SU7 sedan had secured over 40,000 firm orders. Deliveries for the model began on March 23rd, and within that month, more than 7,000 units of the SU7 were delivered. In total, Xiaomi Auto delivered over 20,000 vehicles in March.

Looking ahead, the automaker plans to launch four to six new models by 2026, with price points expected to range from approximately $29,000 to $79,700. The division reached a significant milestone in 2025, posting its first annual profit of about €113 million on revenue of roughly €13 billion. After delivering 411,000 vehicles the previous year, the target for 2026 is set at 550,000 units.

However, not all signals are uniformly positive. Delivery wait times for the YU7 SUV model have shortened considerably, from an initial 33-56 weeks down to 7-14 weeks, indicating a cooling of demand following the initial launch period.

AI Leadership and Substantial Investment

In the competitive field of artificial intelligence, Xiaomi's MiMo-V2-Pro model is currently the most utilized AI model globally on the OpenRouter platform. It processes a remarkable 4.79 trillion tokens per week—triple the volume of the second-ranked model—and is growing at a weekly rate of 46%. This gives Xiaomi a commanding 21.1% global market share on the platform, far ahead of OpenAI's 7.5%.

On the SWE-bench Verified benchmark for software engineering tasks, MiMo-V2-Pro achieves a score of 78%, placing it just 2.8 percentage points behind Anthropic's Claude Opus 4.6, which scores 80.8%. To fuel its AI ambitions, Xiaomi has committed to an investment of 60 billion yuan (approximately $8.7 billion) to deeply integrate artificial intelligence across its device ecosystem. The sustainability of MiMo-V2-Pro's lead will be tested as competitors like OpenAI release new model generations.

Core Smartphone Business and Upcoming Flagship

Xiaomi maintains a robust position in its core smartphone market. It holds the third rank globally with 165.2 million devices sold and a 13.3% worldwide market share. Notably, within China's premium smartphone segment, the company has achieved a record share of 27.1%.

Xiaomi at a turning point? This analysis reveals what investors need to know now.

The pipeline for premium devices remains active. According to recent leaks, the Xiaomi 17 Max is slated for a May launch in China. The device is expected to be a hardware powerhouse, featuring a 200-megapixel primary sensor supported by two 50-megapixel cameras—one of which is a periscope telephoto lens. It is also rumored to house an 8,000 mAh battery and a 6.9-inch 120 Hz OLED display. The company's imaging partnership with Leica for photo processing is set to continue with this model.

This confluence of progress across AI, automotive, and hardware underscores Xiaomi's multifaceted growth strategy, even as the market valuation of its shares has not fully reflected this broad-based operational momentum.
