Wienerberger Shares: A Potential Reversal in the Making?
04.04.2026 - 07:55:05 | boerse-global.deAfter declining approximately 20% since late February, shares of building materials giant Wienerberger are displaying initial signs of stabilization. A recent upward crossover of the 20-day moving average has caught the attention of technical analysts, who often interpret such a move as a preliminary signal that a bottom may be forming.
A Solid Foundation Meets a Steep Climb
The company's fundamental backdrop provides a robust basis for consideration. For the 2025 fiscal year, Wienerberger reported a modest increase in group revenue to €4.57 billion. More notably, the group's net profit more than doubled, reaching €166 million. Consequently, earnings per share surged from €0.72 to €1.52. Reflecting this strong performance, management has proposed a dividend of €0.95 per share.
Despite these solid figures, the equity's current price of around €23.66 remains substantially below its 200-day moving average of €28.35, indicating significant ground to recover. Should the emerging positive momentum persist, chart watchers identify the next key technical resistance level at the six-month high of €31.02.
Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Wienerberger?
Headwinds from Energy and Housing Shape the 2026 Outlook
The outlook for 2026 presents a mixed picture. Company leadership does not anticipate a structural recovery in the residential construction sector. A further challenge comes in the form of projected energy cost inflation, estimated at roughly €30 million, primarily driven by rising natural gas prices.
In response, Wienerberger is implementing countermeasures including planned price increases of up to 2% and continuing its strategic acquisition program. As part of this strategy, the group finalized the purchase of Italian ceramic manufacturer Italcer in February 2026.
Two imminent events are likely to influence the stock in the coming weeks: the Q1 2026 update scheduled for May 13, and the record date for the Annual General Meeting on April 27. If the current technical recovery holds until these dates, it could establish a foundation for a more sustained price movement—provided the quarterly results contain no negative surprises.
