The French concessions and construction giant Vinci is deepening its commitment to the Indian market. Through its subsidiary Vinci Highways, the group has signed an agreement to acquire nine operational toll road concessions spanning nearly 700 kilometers. The transaction carries a price tag of approximately €1.6 billion.

Focus on Operational Assets in High-Growth Regions

This strategic move involves concessions located in the economically vibrant states of Andhra Pradesh and Gujarat. The acquired roadways link crucial industrial centers with major port facilities, including sections of National Highway 16—one of India's most significant freight corridors. By focusing on these existing, revenue-generating "brownfield" assets, Vinci secures long-term toll income streams. This approach aligns with the corporation's broader strategy of acquiring operational infrastructure in high-growth emerging economies, rather than pursuing new-build projects in more saturated European markets. India's push to develop its transport network with private investment capital creates a favorable environment for such deals.

The completion of this acquisition remains subject to regulatory approvals and is anticipated only towards the end of 2026.

Alongside its international expansion, Vinci continues to demonstrate financial robustness. The company is currently executing a share buyback program, with plans to repurchase up to €250 million worth of its own shares by May 7, 2026. A broader program for 2026–2027 envisages buybacks of up to ten percent of the share capital.
