Uranium Energy Advances Vertical Integration with Key US Conversion Facility
26.03.2026 - 03:58:00 | boerse-global.de
Uranium Energy Corp. is moving decisively to solidify its role within the nuclear fuel supply chain. The company's strategy extends beyond expanding its mining operations to include the development of a domestic uranium conversion facility, a move designed to lessen US reliance on foreign suppliers for processed nuclear fuel.
A Strategic Push for Domestic Supply Chain Control
The broader initiative aligns with supportive US energy policy and a favorable market shift. Uranium prices climbed to a peak of $101.55 per pound in early 2026, driven by a structural supply deficit following years of underinvestment in mining. Completing vertical integration from extraction through conversion would position Uranium Energy as the sole fully American-owned provider across the entire front-end nuclear fuel cycle—a significant strategic advantage.
The company's stock, while trading approximately 31% below its 52-week high of €16.89, has recovered sharply, showing a gain of over 200% from its low in April 2025.

Mining Operations Ramp Up in Key Projects
Concurrent with its conversion plans, Uranium Energy is actively scaling production at its US mining assets. At the Christensen Ranch project in Wyoming, operations have commenced at three new header houses in Wellfield 11 following state approval. One additional header house at this site awaits permitting, while three more are under construction in Wellfields 12 and 10-Extension.
In South Texas, preparatory work at the Burke Hollow mine is complete. The project now awaits the final operating permit from the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality before production can begin.
Licensing Milestone Reached for Conversion Plant
A crucial step forward occurred on March 18, 2026, when the company's subsidiary, UR&C, received a Docket Number from the US Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) for its proposed conversion plant. This formal milestone initiates the lengthy licensing process.
The actual license application will be submitted only after engineering and design work is finalized in partnership with the industrial conglomerate Fluor, and a final site location is selected. Multiple sites across several US states are currently under evaluation, with assessments focusing on incentive programs, labor availability, and logistical infrastructure.
