Investors in Ubtech Robotics are awaiting the company's 2025 annual results this coming Tuesday, with a surprising item on the agenda: the potential declaration of the firm's first-ever dividend. This marks a significant shift for a robotics pioneer that has historically reinvested all available capital into research and aggressive expansion.

The share price, closing yesterday at 10.45 euros, reflects prevailing market skepticism, trading only marginally above the 52-week low it touched this past Tuesday. Shareholders are looking for concrete evidence that the operational momentum from the first half of 2025 has been sustained. During that period, revenue grew by nearly 28 percent while the net loss narrowed slightly. The mass production of the humanoid robot Walker S2, launched in mid-November, is now expected to make its first significant contribution to the financial statements.

Scaling Up to Meet Surging Demand

Fundamentally, the company is experiencing considerable tailwinds. Total orders for humanoid robots reached over 1.4 billion yuan in 2025, with a notable acceleration during the second half of the year. A key driver of this growth is European aerospace giant Airbus. In January 2026, Airbus ordered Walker S2 models for its manufacturing facilities, opening the aviation sector as Ubtech's fifth major industrial vertical.

Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Ubtech Robotics?

To meet ambitious production targets, management has recently implemented major structural initiatives. After delivering 1,000 units last year, Ubtech is now targeting 5,000 robots for 2026. This scaling effort is supported by three key strategic moves:

  • A USD 1 billion credit facility from Infini Capital to fund the construction of a factory in the Middle East.
  • The acquisition of a 29.99 percent stake in precision manufacturer Zhejiang Fenglong Electric in mid-March, accompanied by an ongoing takeover offer at 17.72 RMB per share.
  • A strategic partnership with Siemens Digital Industries Software aimed at reaching an annual production capacity of 10,000 units by 2027.

Intensifying Competition in a Hot Market

The rapidly expanding humanoid robotics market is attracting well-funded competitors. Beyond startups like Unitree, technology behemoths such as Huawei and Xiaomi are increasingly entering the sector. This mounting competitive pressure compels Ubtech to rapidly convert its first-mover advantage into market share and drive down production costs.

The board will present the final figures on March 31. Should the committee indeed approve a dividend, it would send a powerful signal to the market. Such a move would demonstrate management's high confidence in its liquidity and the imminent profitability of its mass-production operations, despite intense competition and capital-intensive acquisitions.
