The Siemens share price is riding a wave of institutional confidence and strategic maneuvering as the industrial giant navigates a period of profound internal change and external pressures. Europe's largest asset manager, Amundi, recently increased its stake in the company to 3.18%, a significant vote of confidence that propelled the stock to a monthly gain exceeding eight percent. The shares currently trade around 238.70 euros, having solidly cleared key technical levels.

This market optimism is actively supported by the company's own actions. Between April 6th and 12th, Siemens repurchased approximately 640,000 of its own shares. Since the buyback program began in February 2024, the total has surpassed 25 million shares, a consistent effort to support shareholder value by reducing the free float.

Concurrently, CEO Roland Busch is preparing a radical overhaul of the company's core structure. Plans are underway to dissolve the large Digital Industries and Smart Infrastructure segments, replacing them with six or seven smaller, more agile units that would report directly to the executive board. Preliminary discussions with the supervisory board and employee representatives are set to begin in May, marking a potential fundamental shift for the historic conglomerate.

Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Siemens?

On the operational front, Siemens is pushing forward with key technological launches ahead of the Hannover Messe. The company unveiled a new Industrial Automation DataCenter, developed in partnership with NVIDIA and Palo Alto Networks. This pre-integrated platform delivers a secure computing infrastructure directly to the factory floor, solving a major industry pain point by saving customers up to 80 hours in system integration time. Another highlight is the premiere of the Digital Twin Composer, a tool already being used by PepsiCo to optimize its supply chain.

Geopolitical challenges loom, however. Potential US tariffs on EU exports could create up to 500 million euros in additional costs for Siemens. In a direct countermeasure, the company is accelerating its local production in North America. Siemens Mobility has just completed a $220 million passenger rail car factory in Lexington, North Carolina, with the first US-made cars scheduled for delivery to American customers in the summer of 2026.

The coming weeks will be critical for validating the current strategy. May brings the first quarterly report under new CFO Veronika Bienert, who took over from Ralf P. Thomas in early April. These results must demonstrate that the strong margins from the automation business can offset broader geopolitical trade pressures, all while the company embarks on its most significant organizational restructuring in years.
