Exchange Supply Swells as Network Activity Diverges

On-chain metrics revealed a significant movement of tokens on February 26, with the volume of XRP held on trading platforms jumping by 10.58% in a single day. The total reached approximately 2.77 billion tokens. Market analysts often interpret such inflows as a potential precursor to selling pressure, as investors position assets for liquidation.

This exchange activity presents a contrast to the underlying usage of the network. Throughout February, while the token's price faced downward pressure, the XRP Ledger processed a rising number of daily transactions. Successful payments climbed from previous levels around 1.8 million per day to a recent peak of up to 2.7 million daily.

A New Phase for Ecosystem Investment

The company's announcement marks the end of its direct, centralized funding approach. Since initiating its support in 2017, Ripple has invested over $550 million into XRP Ledger projects, backing nearly 200 initiatives since 2021 alone. The new model delegates greater influence to independent organizations and venture capital firms.

Central to this restructured effort is the "FinTech Builder Program," designed specifically for startups building institutional financial applications on the ledger. This program will be powered by an expanding consortium of investors, who will gain the ability to fund projects directly.

Strategic Bets and Regulatory Developments

In a related investment, Ripple allocated $5 million to t54 Labs, a startup focused on developing infrastructure for AI agents. This stake highlights Ripple's ambition to extend the XRP Ledger's utility into emerging fields like artificial intelligence.

These developments unfolded as a key regulatory deadline passed. February 26 was the final day for the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) to decide on a proposed cryptocurrency ETF from T.
