The successful deployment of eight Eaglet-II satellites into Earth orbit this week marks a significant operational achievement for European aerospace group OHB SE. Launched aboard a SpaceX rocket from California, the event demonstrates the company's effective execution of its unprecedented order book, which now exceeds three billion euros.

Financial Performance Reaches New Heights

This operational milestone is supported by robust financial results. In mid-March, OHB SE presented its certified annual report for 2025, revealing a substantial increase in total output to 1.25 billion euros. The company's adjusted EBITDA also saw significant growth, climbing to 125.6 million euros.

The primary drivers behind this expansion are rising European investments in satellite systems and defense applications. These sectors contributed to a record influx of new orders for OHB, totaling nearly 2.1 billion euros. Consequently, the group's total order backlog has reached an all-time high of 3.19 billion euros.

Strengthening European Earth Observation Capabilities

The recently launched satellites, developed and tested by OHB's subsidiary OHB Italia, form a core component of Italy's IRIDE constellation. This ambitious program is designed to significantly enhance Europe's Earth observation capacity and bolster the continent's strategic autonomy in space. The successful commissioning validates OHB's "New Space" strategy, which emphasizes rapid and cost-efficient solutions, and cements the company's role as a key supplier of European space infrastructure.
