Nordex Stock Hits Fresh Peak Amid Analyst Discord
15.04.2026 - 19:43:56 | boerse-global.deShares of wind turbine manufacturer Nordex SE have surged to a new annual high, trading around €46.40, even as a prominent analyst slapped a sell rating on the stock. This divergence highlights a market torn between celebrating the company's strategic pricing power and fretting over a valuation that has skyrocketed.
The stock's remarkable run is undeniable. Since April 2025, the share price has more than tripled, adding approximately 51% since the start of this year alone. The current level is just a fraction below the new 52-week peak, underscoring sustained bullish momentum.
This optimism stems from the company's first-quarter 2026 order intake, which delivered a nuanced message. Nordex secured new orders for 1,869 megawatts (MW), a decrease from the 2,182 MW booked in the same period last year. However, the strategic shift appears intentional. The average selling price per megawatt climbed from €0.87 million to €0.91 million, indicating a deliberate pivot toward more profitable projects rather than pure volume.
"We had a robust start to the year with an order intake of around 1.9 GW, which is in line with our expectations," said CEO José Luis Blanco. He expressed confidence for the full year, supported by a healthy project pipeline in core markets like Europe and North America.
Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Nordex?
The quarter's business was geographically diverse, a factor that provides stability. Nordex will deliver 292 wind turbines to projects across 13 countries, with Germany, Turkey, and Sweden standing out as the strongest individual markets. The company's focus remains on its 4- to 7-MW+ class onshore turbines, designed for space-constrained areas, which keeps it competitive in densely populated European regions.
Yet, not all observers are convinced. Analyst Mühlenbruch of MWB Research downgraded the stock to Sell, arguing the valuation has become excessive and that the solid quarterly figures do little to alter that view. This stands in contrast to the perspective of Jefferies, which praised the company's pricing discipline as solid.
The broader market environment offers mixed signals. While geopolitical uncertainties continue to pressure the industry, structural growth drivers persist. Notably, competitor Statkraft announced plans for a massive investment in repowering Norwegian wind parks. Such modernization projects, which replace older turbines with newer, more powerful models at existing sites, represent a significant long-term opportunity for manufacturers like Nordex.
Nordex at a turning point? This analysis reveals what investors need to know now.
For now, the stock trades in a narrow band just below its peak, with little apparent buffer for further gains. The coming weeks will reveal whether the sell rating from MWB Research foreshadows a broader sentiment shift or remains an isolated opinion. The company's next test will be the release of its full Q1 financials, where margin development will be scrutinized to justify the market's substantial premium.
