Nel ASA Stock Jumps on Repeat Order Ahead of Earnings

Nel ASA shares jump 6% on a $7M repeat order for PEM electrolyzers, boosting investor confidence ahead of its Q1 2026 earnings report on April 22.

A fresh seven-million-dollar order has given Nel ASA shares a significant boost, setting a positive tone just days before the Norwegian hydrogen specialist unveils its first-quarter financials. The stock surged over six percent on Friday, closing at €0.22, as investors welcomed news of a repeat customer.

The order, secured by the company's US subsidiary Nel Hydrogen US, is for the supply of modular PEM electrolyzers to Mesure Process, a subsidiary of the Synqo Energies group. This equipment is destined for a European project designed to supply green hydrogen for both industrial use and refueling stations, with commissioning targeted for 2027. Mesure Process will act as the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contractor for the project consortium.

Company management highlighted the significance of the repeat business. Chief Commercial Officer Todd Cartwright pointed to the design of Nel's modular MC platform, which enables rapid installation, as a key factor in securing the follow-on contract. This deal suggests the technology is gaining trust among European project developers.

Trading activity was volatile throughout the week, but the order announcement spurred decisive buying on Friday. The stock's weekly gain now stands at approximately twelve percent, pushing it roughly 21 percent above its 52-week low of €0.18.

All attention now turns to Wednesday, April 22, 2026. Nel ASA is scheduled to release its Q1 2026 report at 7:00 AM CET, followed by a virtual presentation and Q&A session with management at 8:00 AM. The quarterly figures will provide the market's first comprehensive look at the company's financial health this year.

Analysts and investors are keenly focused on the development of Nel's order backlog and any tangible progress toward profitability. The latest contract from Mesure Process offers an encouraging signal, but the upcoming earnings will reveal if this is translating into improved operational margins.
