Max Power Mining Launches Major Seismic Campaign in Saskatchewan
19.02.2026 - 11:45:03Max Power Mining Corp. is accelerating the commercial assessment of its Lawson hydrogen discovery in Saskatchewan. A significant new 3D seismic program has been commissioned, designed to map the resource potential of the site near Central Butte. Data acquisition across 47 square kilometers will commence on February 23, 2026, with global engineering firm Tetra Tech leading the operation.
The company’s strategy, described by CEO Ran Narayanasamy as “months-to-molecules,” emphasizes a rapid transition from initial discovery to commercial proof. This upcoming seismic work, combined with ongoing core sample analysis, is expected to facilitate an initial resource estimate in the near term. The high-resolution subsurface data aims to precisely delineate potential hydrogen-bearing structural traps within the Lawson discovery area. Findings will directly inform resource modeling and form the basis for a confirmation drill program to test commercial feasibility.
Expanding Focus Along the Genesis Trend
Max Power’s exploration efforts extend well beyond the Lawson site. The company has pinpointed at least 80 additional geologically compelling structures along the 475-kilometer “Genesis Trend.” These targets share characteristics similar to the Lawson location and are slated for investigation through a multi-well drilling campaign later in 2026. This expansion builds on the company’s January 2026 achievement of confirming Canada’s first natural hydrogen occurrence via drilling, with the broader goal of developing a scalable regional hydrogen industry.

Commercial Discussions Advance Alongside Technical Work
Parallel to its technical operations, Max Power is engaged in commercial negotiations. The company reports active discussions with several potential end-users interested in sourcing natural hydrogen from the Genesis Trend. The project’s proximity to the Regina-Moose Jaw Industrial Corridor—a hub for heavy industry and agriculture—provides a natural and accessible market for future production.
The comprehensive seismic survey, beginning the week of February 23, 2026, represents a critical next step. Tetra Tech will execute the large-scale investigation to generate the detailed underground imagery required to advance this promising hydrogen resource toward development.
