Moving away from its traditional social networking roots, the company is now placing its full emphasis on social commerce and live-streaming capabilities. This pivot, centered on new monetization tools for content creators and an AI-driven advertising technology, is aimed at reversing the persistent downward trajectory of its share price.

Strategic Realignment Toward Commerce

The company's strategic refocus on social commerce was announced in February 2026. The objective is to capitalize directly on worldwide live-streaming trends. Rather than prioritizing user acquisition, the new model emphasizes generating revenue from its existing user base. Planned features include virtual gifting, paid subscriptions, and direct shopping integrations within live streams. This approach is modeled on the Chinese market, where live-streaming e-commerce already generates revenues in the hundreds of billions.

Market Skepticism and Leadership Confidence

Despite the strategic overhaul, investor sentiment remains cautious. The equity touched a new 52-week low of €0.99 on Monday, shedding over 12% in a single session. Year-to-date, the shares are down approximately 53%, reflecting market doubts about the speed and efficacy of the company's transformation.
