ITM Power Secures Major Contract for Welsh Green Hydrogen Facility
25.03.2026 - 06:44:59 | boerse-global.deA significant green hydrogen project in Wales has moved into its implementation phase, marking a key milestone for UK-based specialist ITM Power. The final investment decision has been made by MorGen Energy, a subsidiary of the global commodities group Trafigura, for the "West Wales Hydrogen" initiative. Central to the project is ITM Power's supply of a 20-megawatt POSEIDON electrolyser.
Project Scope and Environmental Impact
Located in Milford Haven, Wales, the facility is designed to produce approximately 2,000 tonnes of low-carbon hydrogen annually. This output is intended to support the decarbonization of local industry, with a specific focus on the metals and steel sector. The operation is projected to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by more than 15,000 tonnes of CO2 equivalent each year.
Beyond the supply of core equipment, ITM Power has established a decade-long service agreement with MorGen Energy. This long-term contract ensures operational support for the electrolysis plant and provides the company with predictable revenue streams that extend well past the initial sale.

Financial Targets and Market Sentiment
From a financial perspective, ITM Power's management has reaffirmed its revenue guidance for the 2026 fiscal year, maintaining a target range of £40 million to £43 million. The official green light for the Welsh project represents a crucial step in building the foundation to achieve these objectives.
Despite this operational progress, investor caution appears to persist. The company's shares recently traded at €0.73, remaining notably below their 52-week high of €1.07. With a Relative Strength Index (RSI) reading of 27.3, the stock is technically viewed as oversold, suggesting the market is still weighing the challenges of scaling the hydrogen technology against its project successes.
Timeline for Development
Site construction at Milford Haven is scheduled to commence before the end of this year. The current plan anticipates the 20-MW electrolyser becoming fully operational in 2028.
