Focus Graphite Gains on Dual Catalysts: Infrastructure Deadline and Tech Partnership
10.04.2026 - 18:53:22 | boerse-global.de
Shares in Focus Graphite surged more than 14% today, trading at EUR 0.24, as the company announced progress on two critical fronts for its Lac Knife graphite project in Quebec. Investor optimism is being fueled by a clear development timeline for 2026 and a new technological partnership aimed at enhancing its product for the battery market.
The company has entered a strategic alliance with U.S. specialist Forge Nano to advance the processing of its raw materials. The collaboration will focus on optimizing Lac Knife graphite for next-generation high-performance batteries using a coating technique called Atomic Layer Deposition (ALD). This method, considered a potential alternative to traditional, more energy-intensive pitch coating, will be tested to generate precise data on battery lifespan and fast-charging capability—key metrics for electric vehicle manufacturers.
This technical initiative is financially supported by a CAD 14 million grant from the Canadian government, awarded in December 2025. The partnership is a strategic move to transition Focus Graphite from an exploration company to a qualified materials supplier. Forge Nano is currently building a U.S. battery factory with support from the Department of Energy, offering Focus Graphite a pathway to position its material for American production needs.
Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Focus Graphite?
Concurrently, the company is pushing ahead with foundational work at the Lac Knife site. A major milestone is approaching in May 2026, the deadline for completing an engineering study on critical infrastructure, including year-round access roads and power connections. The results of this study are a prerequisite for commencing subsequent field operations.
Further groundwork is scheduled for summer 2026, with the start of geotechnical surveys and environmental field studies. These efforts feed into the ongoing Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA), with final submissions planned throughout 2026. The project benefits from its location, with the modernization of Highway 389, access to the deep-water port of Baie-Comeau, and proximity to hydroelectric power providing logistical advantages in a market eager for North American graphite sources.
Today’s share price gain marks a stabilization after a weaker period last month, though the stock remains approximately 40% below its 52-week high. The coming months will be decisive. The timely delivery of the infrastructure study in May and the results from the coating tests with Forge Nano will form the basis for future pilot projects and potential off-take agreements, shaping the project's path toward production and financing.
